- Primary Nutrients: Nitrate (NO3), Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K), Ammonium (NH4).
- Secondary Nutrients: Calcium (Ca), Magnesium (Mg), Sulphur (S).
- Micronutrients: Zinc (Zn), Boron (B), Copper (Cu), Manganese (Mn), Iron (Fe), Molybdenum (Mo).

NU-test Sampling Guidelines
Sampling Technique:
To ensure meaningful results, follow these guidelines:
- Collect samples early in the morning and from the same area for consistency.
- Use a zig-zag pattern (W or Z) to cover a representative section of 1-2 hectares.
- Avoid unrepresentative areas, such as fence lines, irrigation overlaps, or varying soil types.
- For grapevines, take 30-50 petioles from opposite the basal bunch and discard the leaf blades.
Sample Preparation and Transport:
- Place samples in a clean, dry plastic bag—avoid paper to prevent dehydration.
- Refrigerate samples until mailing or delivery, and use an esky for transportation.
- Do not freeze samples or place them directly on ice bricks.
- Wrap samples in newspaper for insulation when mailing.
